Hi I've been on I.B. since 2005 but two thirds of it is reduced as I have a personal pension. My I.B. rate is £96 but I only get £39 a week.To make matters worse they work out the deduction from my GROSS pension not the nett.

I understood that means testing would only apply to people in the WRAG not the support group.

Are you saying it applies to ALL, even those in the support group?

Sorry Selby, I should have mentioned WRAG.

it is just that I have been asked to fill in form JC/23 and it asks for details of any occupational pension

As I understand it, pension income is only diregarded for IB if you were in receipt of IB before 2001. If not, then there is an £85/week disregard and a deduction £1 for every £2 in excess of this.

Just accessing the forum for the first time and read this thread. Just so I can be sure about this? My wife has been receiving IB since c1998. She started receiving a teachers pension (early medical retirement) cJan 2003. Should the pension be used to reduce her IB or not? Many thanks

As I understand it, her pension will be disregarded, however, if you have not done so already, you should notify the DWP that she is in receipt of it, as ultimately it is at their discretion that it will be ignored.
