got my atos dla medical next tues help!!! was created by bluebellgirl
hi guys, i posted before about my stalking m]=naighbour maliciously telling dla im not ill and ive finally got my atos medical next tues eve at home between 5 and 8.
I'm sooo scared, ive had dla for 9 years and i m so mentally fragile im so worried about it.
i just needed some moral support from here:)
i'm not sure what to expect. i need to get accross all my physical disabilties and my mental health probs.
i have carers for 2 hours a day but im scared they'll cut my care comonant to low or medium care as i dont have 24 hour care even tho i need it.
any advice greatly apreciated. bluebell

Have you got anyone who could be with you? A friend? A relative? A nice neighbour? An advocate of some sort?
If your house is a tip, don't tidy up especially. Be aware that if the assessor asks to go to the loo, they may take a quick peak at what you've got lying around or what adaptations you have, so don't move the raised loo seat to be helpful or put away your walking stick if you usually use it or whatever aids you may use.
Don't forget that if it all goes pearshaped, you have a second bite at the cherry in the form of an appeal.
Good luck.

thank you:) i think they made it after office hours so my advocate cant be here as my advocate asked if they could make an appnt so he could be present. i have a friend who will come tho and im hoping the visit coincides with my eve carers visit.
i'm hoping the fact i spend most of my dla on carers and motability car helps, .
the illnesses i have are severe me/cfs, osteoarthritis in spine, foot and hand (im left handed so it makes it harder), menieres disease, severe asthma, faints and falls due to vertigo when i move my neck due to the cervical spondylosis, , and broke my foot 3 times last year due to falls, premature menopause , autoimmune ypothyroid, severe pain due to arthritis and fibromyalgia despiter morphine patches, urinary incontinance, severe pain on peeing, large uterine fibroid pushing against bladder, and severe hrt bleed pain die to fibroid, post traumatic stress disorder, borderline personality disorder, disasociation where i dont know where or who i am, and can regress to a 3 year old during flashbacks and disociationm
flashbacks dailly, bulimia, anaemia, suicidal depression( 5 ods last year and 1 section), self harm, hypnopompic nightmares where my brain is still dreaming and body awake and i broke my nose spo badly by bashing my face against the wall thinking it was the door and abot to have agressive nose op in april, so got quite a lot of illnesses but scared thwt my dla will be cut cos of the malicious neighbours flase allegations that im not ill.
ive never had an atos medical before and ive heard its scary!
im 40 btw and very fragile and scared that i will lose my dla.

my flat will be tidy cos i have a carers cleaning call on mon and worried that will go against me,and should i mention my hobbie? im studying an online perfumery course? its to keep myself from going totally insane as im mostly bedbound and was getting desperate for something to do in bed on my laptop, but not sure if that will go against me, even tho i only manage to do an hour or so a week on my laptop?? I will keep my crutch near the door where i always keep it, and im way too ill to wash this week anyway so my hair will def be dirty as i only able to wash every few days due to dizzness and fainting. but i can come across as articulate when im nervous and again worried thqt might go against me. i cant wait for this to be over and i hope they dont make me wait for months for the outcome.

You only have to mention hobbies if asked about them. Think a bit about how you might explain it. As I've said on another thread this morning, you must tell the truth when answered questions, but you can choose in which order to give the information, so that the important stuff doesn't get cut off. If you start by mentioning that you are studying online, the HCP may go straight on to the next question, but if you start your sentence with something about how frequently or with what difficulty you are studying, then go on to say what it is that you are doing, your information about only managing to do the studying for an hour a week on your laptop won't be cut off.
