esa, has anyone experienced this pls was created by ploppy
my esa medical was cancelled by my doctor and 3 weeks later i,m put in the wrag group and also a letter to go for pathways interviews. i rang up the jobcentre and they told me to write to them and tell them i disagree with their decision and why and may get put in the support group. i tried to cancel my pathways interview but the rude womad gave me another no. to ring and put the phone down on me. i rang this no. and it was the dwp again. nice lady again told me they had on their records my phone calls and not to worry about the pathways interview and just send the letter in as i am exzempt from going to any interviews and pathways will see this on their computer. is this enough for me to not attend, dont know what more to do.

If as you say, you were put in the WRAG, then you are required to attend the WFIs, they can be deferred but not cancelled.

It sounds like you have asked for a Reconsideration to be put into the Support Group. If this is sucessful then you would not need to attend the WFI.

So it all boils down to whether you are currently in the WRAG or the Support Group.

I think you need to ring the DWP again to confirm which group you are in.

Let us know how you get on.

hi, yes i,m in the wrag group but they wont tell me why. have to ask in writing for the report.also been told to attend the pathways scheme. i said i cant as to ill and have to ring back tomorrow to see if it can be done by phone. am i doing wrong asking for a review of the decision made putting me in the wrag group since i never had a medical. would it make a diference if i told them i would try and come in for a medical or is that wrong. they want me to write in why i think i should go to the support group which i will do. my doctor is also writing a letter to support me plus other info. or should i directly appeal. dont know what to do.

I hope you will understand that we can't advise you what to do, just provide you with information for you to make your own decision.

To be placed in the Support Group, you will need to demonstrate that you meet one or more of the relevant criteria, these are listed on page 25 of the Understanding ESA guide in the Members area.

You can ask for a Reconsideration or you can appeal, if you choose the latter the DWP will still do the Reconsideration.

An appeal must be lodged within 4 weeks of the decision using a GL24 form, you need to specify your reasons and can submit additional evidence.

If you do decide to appeal, you should seek face to face advice with your local CAB of Welfare Rights, who can guide you through the process and help you gather evidence.

You need to be aware, if you appeal, there is a possibility that you could lose your existing benefits, as the Tribunal will re-assess all of your claim, not just the evidence that you should be in the Support group.
