Prior to being summoned for an ESA medical assessment, following the completion of an ESA50, Atos will decide whether or not to seek further medical evidence usually from your GP, by means of an ESA113.

If the ESA113 is not answered, contains vague answers, or the information cannot deduce whether you are likely to be entitled to ESA, at this point you may be required to attend a medical assessment.

Is it at the point that they invite you to attend a medical that they contact your psychiatrist?

I have a very supportive psychiatrist and social worker so I would like their input. They are both adamant that I can't go back to paid work.

I have schizoaffective disorder and OCD.

If you have been asked to attend a medical then either, they have contacted you doctor or consultant and did not feel that there was sufficient reason to waive the medical, or more likely, they have not contacted your doctor at all.

It would probably best to solicit these testimonials your self and send them to ATOS and the DWP as part of your claim, that way you can ensure the Decision Maker has this info available when they reciew your case.

Hope this helps

This is opposite to what used to be the case for Incapacity Benefit where an IB113 was sent before an IB50 used to be sent out to ascertain if the claimant was PCA exempt. However towards the end of IB's life Atos appeared to be circumventing the regulations and sent out IB50s without first sending out IB113s.
