Call ATOS immediately and explain you can't attend due to your current anxieties and request a home visit.
We did same and after some reminder calls we finally got the home visit.
A surgery generally won't make contact with ATOS nor DWP directly.
They will however comply with requests from ATOS/DWP for further information when they have the right tick on a form from you and a signature giving permission for further medical evidence.
You may, like we did, request your doctor to write a current medical report (they will perhaps need to see/speak/examine you prior to writing it)
We had to pay the surgery for one but we did use it successfully during our later appeal.
Your Doctor will do a home visit if your really suffering, we have had the same issues, now my son has extra med's to help alleviate the rush of anxiety pre appointment time, and we try arrange the first appointment in afternoon or evening surgery with GPthey tend to be "on time" with first appointments, and gradually lag as they see more patients.
Good Luck

Moderators if this is against the rules I understand my reply will not be published but I wanted to provide a link to the Thyroid forum which this person might find useful:-

Hi,
I would just like to thank everyone for there support, it's so nice to see people taking time to reply to my worries.
I know I need to get my thyroid levels checked, I keep going round in circles with it, I have been trying very hard to get well enough to face the blood tests and exams but so far I have failed on many occasions.
I have recently lost a close friend and my grandmother, I couldn't even attend the funerals, I know it's pathetic, I also know I'm letting a lot of people down.
I will write to ATOS and the dwp to try and explain my circumstances, I have found writing to them tends to be better than ringing where my local medical services are.
Many thanks for all your help!
P.S Daisy37 - Thanks so much for the link
