xcempt from capabilty test

good morning to every one
can somebody tell me what is going on. ihave just read steves newsletter and the dwp aresorting out the excempt people first saying everybody should have their forms by march 2012 my question is i will be 61 in december 2012 and i retire but i will start to receive my pension july 2013 will i be sent a form to migrate to esa?

I too read the news email but I am confused if that means people currently being pca exempt will be at the forefront of those being tested first.

Also I wonder what the reason is behind them doing it this way.

Because if they just look at the paperwork and many do make it through it will make the early stats look good and take the pressure off them even they know the very sick wont work, they will pick off a few into other groups but the very sick dont get better


as soon as they start moving people and some dont make it questions will be asked in the house.. they will say have moved 60,000 very sick people if 75% get through

they can stand up and say in parliment all is going well amd the numbers show most getting into the support group too

but once you hit the people who get reviewed every 3 years ish more than half wont make it IMO and if only half of them win appeals they will have done what they started out to do... move many people on to JSA and cut the IB/esa bill too

Forgive me if i'm being simplistic, but who are people that are 'EXEMPT'? Who/What type of illness/condition qualifies for such a description?
This also sounds to me as if in future there will be NO unemployment benefit whatsoever.
You will be a)ordinary fit unemployed and on JSA, partially sick but fit for all work, (ESA Work Group) and really sick but fit for some work with support (ESA Support Group)...or am I being naive??

I'm not quite clear which exemption you're asking about so I'll address both sorts.

There are some conditions which are exempt a PCA for everyone applying for ESA, such as being an inpatient in hospital. You can find more details of these in our guides to ESA in the Help for Claimants section, or get an idea of whether any would apply to you by doing the quick ESA test on the homepage.

Some people won't have a medical examination for ESA when transferred from IB, if a decision maker decides that there is enough evidence on file that they qualify for ESA. I haven't seen anything summarising what might fall into this category - maybe someone else has?
