IB migration - 'passed' WCA and in Supprot group

I attended WCA on Mon 17th Jan, accompanied by my wife, who earlier that day had read the 8 pages of notes that I'd typed up to accompany the ESA50 I sent in (wee boxes just don't allow for adequate expansion of descriptions).

I'd received the ESA50 in late October, to be back by 6 Dec, but I'd been preparing for it arriving since summer (when I'd heard that Aberdeen was one of the trial areas) and head worked through advice on this site to assist me.

At the interview itself it seems that I was 'very defensive and spiky' and did not look the women in the eye. Maybe I was in the throes of some kind of anxiety attack. The interview lasted maybe 20 mins, and mostly focused on questions surrounding my mental health (the principal reason I was on IB anyway). Even when she said that I 'would have nothing to worry about' as regards the outcome of the WCA I asked 'what does that mean?', to which she again stated that I 'would have nothing to worry about'. Although, in retrospect, I can acknowledge that the woman 'sounded OK' in her manner and tone this did not matter to me at the time, because I felt extremely uncomfortable (probably because I've had hell in my head going on for the last 6 months with every outcome and its subsequent consequences raked over persistently as if 'on a loop').

Was told that a letter should arrive a few weeks later telling me the outcome, but got a phone call on Wed 19th Jan to be told I would be in the Support Group.

I asked how many points I'd been given, but was told that it hadn't been based on points, which suggests that it was probably an 'exceptional cicrumstances' award.

I'd still like to be able to get an idea of what was noted etc, so is it a Subject Acces Request that I need to put in? Is there any other form that I should also be filling in?

Hi Choogle

Congratulations on entering the support group.

You score points for the limited capacity for work test, but the limited capacity for work-related activities that you pass to get into the support group is not based on points. However you actually have to pass both tests to enter the support group so I would surmise that your medical report will state how many points you scored.

You can obtain a copy simply by phoning JCP and requesting a copy of your ESA85 medical report. A SAR isn't really necessary unless their telephone staff are being difficult and refuse to send documents, which they have on occasions been known to do.

Regards

Derek
