Hi Dave. The original award was for 3 years and was coming to an end therefore a new application was submitted. The original award was due to mobility problems caused by double hip and double knee wear and tear. Also asthma/chronic pulmonary disease. Her care award was due to her inability to stand for long periods, inability to clean herself after toiletting due to not being able to bend forward as a result of a hiatus hernia. This meant she needed to shower in order to clean herself. She then couldn't dry herself below the knees and needed to air dry. The renewal award was for 18 months because it was felt that double hip and 1 knee replacement carried out towards the end of the original award would improve her mobility. It didn't take into account her breathing problems.
