Hi Jo

I'm not sure about the DLA application but I would recommend you join your local Fibromyalgia support group, I joined mine a couple of months ago and it has been a wonderful support in all ways. I honestly don't know how I could have managed with FM with children as well. My mobility is deteriorating too and I use a stick and a scooter. I'm awaiting my DLA claim result, although thanks to this site have just passed my incapacity medical (which I should have been exempt from but received the exemption letter too late!) I wish you well Jo. x

Aw guys thank you all so much much for your kind words & helpful advice, really made me feel alot better knowing i wasn't alone!! Thank you Jeff1, evaness & Kaytee, you've all given me hope. Alas, my application had already gone in and thus i received the dreaded letter of no to both componets! I have tried several times to contact my local CAB to no avail, can never get to speak to anyone!! I have taken the advise on the appeal, obtaining the form GL24 which I have completed and will sending off tomorrow.

I get a little confused with all of this as I am completly on my own here and recently obtained some help from my local family support centre. These last 2 weeks have been horrendous for me, both physically & emotionally and now my children are starting to suffer as their worried about their mum & frightened something's going to happen to me :-( Can you guys tell me about this "incapacity medical" as i've never heard of it??

I am now getting this ESA benefit thankfully but today had to attend a "pathways to work interview"!!!! I broke down in the jobcentre, the poor woman must have thought she had a right case on her hands!! Uptil this dam illness started, I was working as i have done since i was 17, do they really think i'm possibly suitable for work!!!??? if i was, i'd still be doing the dam job i'd been doing for the last 17 years!!!!! She could see how much pain i was in & could see for herself there's no chance of me being able to work for the forseeable future, but i asked her about a welfare rights officer, and she didn't know what i was talking about!!!??? Well, i guess i'll just have to wait & see what they say after they receive my appeal.

I am going to my GP once again on thursday and going to ask for a copy of what he sent to them, is there anything else I need do you think? I read somewhere online that it might be good idea to get hold of the Decision makers guide, erm where?? well, i've rattled on for too long & must have bored you all to pieces but just wanted to thank you all & hope with all the help & advice & support from you guys on here, that this time the decision made will be the right one!!!! Kindest wishes to you all, Jo x x

I'm not sure what Kaytee was referring to, but it was probably a medical for IB, which some people are still on. It's similar to the medical for ESA.

Hi guys,

it's been a while since i've been on here, been in hospital & last month or so has really took it's toll on me. Just wanted to let you all know that on the 18th December I received a letter advising my appeal decision had been over turned and they were awarding me high rate mobility, low rate care!!! They also back dated it to September when my first tribunal was. Such a relief and they have awarded it for 2 years as they don't know how progressive this illness is. This was all down to the guidance & notes from this site & wanted to let you know how much I appreciate it. Still fighting the dam council on housing benefit, still not paying anything so one more battle to fight i guess!!
