It would appear that we are in for a really tough time ahead,as I understand it,anyone not in the support group is going to be limited to twelve months on Esa then they will be transferred onto JSA. at least that is how I read it.I really hope this is not the case,Iknow from reading this forum that many(the majority)of people on here should be in the support group.and it looks like it will become even harder to get into this group
Danny Alexander has just corrected Jon Snow who was describing the proposals in this way way on the channel 4 news.
He confirmed it is just contribition based ESA that will be affected by the 12 month rule - no consolation to people in this position who will not be able to claim means-tested ESA if they have savings/a partner who earns above the qualifying limit.
I assume those that lose ESA entitlement will also lose entitlement to JSA which is also means tested?
I don't know if or how this will effect people still on contribution based IB?
Considering it was Danny Alexander who spoke out on the BBC documentary Who's Cheating Who, i found it very difficult listening to him defending the cuts to ESA etc.
