I have applied for DlA as I am wheelchair bound and require extensive care and support. The orignal claim forms were thouroughly filled out and I explained I was on many painkillers which were of high disage. I cannot go to the toilet or anything and have to get him to take me to the loo, bath etc. My doctor got a medical form which she filled but They decided to send out a medical too which the doctor did in 30 minutes when he came. He asked me to walk if I could I told him I couldn't. This week they have refused my whole claim. I am upset and deciding whether to re-apply in 3 months agin or do an appeal? I am a bit nervous about tye whole appeal thing. Any advice is appreciated.
Since you've been turned down completely, I cannot see what you would have to lose by appealing.
If you want more food for thought on this, if you look in the guide to appeals accessible via the homepage, DLA, members section, you will find more discussion of the topic of whether to go for an appeal.
