You can ask for the WFI to be waived or deferred.

If a waiver is agreed you will have to attend the WFI at a later date, at a time when you are well enough. If a deferral is granted the WFI will be cancelled, but you will be treated as having fulfilled you obligations as to good cause for non-attendance. In this situation you will not be required to attend the WFI at a later date.

It depends who is conducting the WFI?

If it is carried out by Jobcentreplus, contact the personal advisor at the appropriate office. If it is carried out be an external provider such as the Shaw Trust, A4E etc, you will need to contact the organisation concerned to request a waiver/deferral.

From your original post it would appear that you are to have the (initial) interview with JCP, so you will need to contact the local office.
