Just a word of warning for those appealing a decision. I decided to Appeal the loss of my IB in July 2009 and as this site rightly says that it is better to go in person, I indicated in my letter I would want an oral hearing. However, on reflection, I decided to opt for a paper hearing on the official enquiry form sent by the Tribunals Service in April 2010. The reasons being that I live in Spain and could not afford to go in person and I was also particularly concerned that an Appeal Hearing could be adjourned and I would have spent money on flights and hotels. Also the travel etc would have a negative effect on my health.
Then lo and behold on the day of my paper Tribunal, the appeal was adjourned. The reason stated is because they were unclear as to wether I wanted an oral hearing or a paper hearing and I must inform them which it is to be within 28 days. So after a year of agonised waiting it seems the pain is to be protracted. Goodness knows how long I will have to wait this time for a hearing!
