Thanks to this site I have just been awarded Higher Rate Mobility and Care backdated to April - until next April - and I didn't realise that they give you a free vehicle tax licence thing as well!! Thankyou to all my friends and moderators on here. There is hope for us all. Best wishes, Lainie xx

Hi to all, hope you are feeling not too bad today. I have just been awarded DLA Higher Rate for Mobility and Care - thanks to this site - however, just a quick question - do I now lose my ESA? What should I do now - should I notify ESA or will they already know? Many thanks for your superb site, I'm sure many of us would just go under without you!

ESA is paid in addition to DLA so you won't lose that allowance.

Claimants are obliged to notify the relevant benefits sections of the change in their entitlement. You will need to inform the office which deals with your ESA claim of your DLA award, and also any other departments dealing with your benefits.

Depending on your individual circumstances you could end up getting more benefit, for example if you receive income-based ESA, as additional premiums may be included in the award.

Nothing on this board constitutes legal advice - always consult a professional about specific problems
