Unfortunately the Jobcentreplus office can call you in for a work-focused interview, even though you are still waiting for a medical assessment, but more importantly for the result of the medical assessment. This is just one of the non-sensical conditions that apply to ESA.
You could try ringing the JCP office and inform them of what you have said in this post, but I think they would be reluctant to defer the WFI in the situation you have described? However, you have nothing to lose by taking this course of action.

It was quite interesting that the guy I saw for the WFI was so concerned about me that the only "homework" he gave me was to go and see my GP and discuss whether my GP thought it would be ok for me to do these appointments. My GP said no, but when I rang to advise this they said I had to get a letter from my GP to confirm this, which I have to pay £15 for!! So I said I couldn't afford to do this, but they then agreed to wait until I'd had my medical.
Now I've had part one and two of that I'm being told I've got to go back and do more WFI's - going against what my GP said!
So I'm going to go but just not take part in anything that I don't feel up to and they can just stuff it as I'm now at the point of realising that this is all like one big scam being done by the Government to make ill people go to work whether they can or not!!!
