TC to UC [managed transistion] was created by lapen
Good afternoon, I am on Enhanced PIP due to being severely sight impaired [blind]. My wife is my full time carer. We were getting the tax credit until recently when we were asked to apply for the UC. I am a qualified accountant and have been working full time for the same employer for the last 22 years. I am lucky to have a supportive employer who has made adjustments and given me an alternative role in the organization due to my sight impairment. I also started a limited company two years ago and started to do some accounting work through the company with the help of my family [daughter and wife]. We haven't made any money out of the company in the last financial year, so I didn't have to disclose it on my tax credit declaration for the last year. The current financial year hasn't ended yet. We did pay minimum wages to our daughter as she did most of the work and we wanted her to learn by working and would like to reward her work for her learning sake. My wife was the only Director in the company. I choose her to be the director on paper so that she can do the admin work easily on my behalf. At the time of applying for the UC, we made a mistake in completing the online form and declared my wife as self-employed but we realised the mistake after submitting the application and later on corrected it, But DWP booked a telephone appointment with my wife to discuss her self-employment status. We tried to explain to DWP via online Journal that it was a mistake but they were adamant that the telephone appointment would carry on as scheduled. I was worried that they may discuss the limited company with her so we have removed her from the Directorship and made myself the Director so that if they have any question I can answer as she may not be able to answer their queries. My questions are as follows: 1) Do you think they would discuss the company with my wife? If they do, would I be able to intervene and explain to the caller the whole situation and answer any questions they may have? 2) We haven't taken any money out of the company as an income, do we still have to disclose the company earnings? 3) We haven't disclosed the limited company on our UC application because we haven't taken any income from the company, would they know that we have a company? In other words, do HMRC and Companies House share information with DWP? Sorry for the long message. Thank you for your help in advance.!

Hi lapen
I'm sorry, but your question is outside the scope of this forum, and we don't want to give you any incorrect advice. You need to talk to a specialist welfare advisor. Hopefully, you can follow the link and find someone in your area advicelocal.uk/
The one thing I can confirm is that the HMRC and DWP do share information. www.gov.uk/government/organisations/depa...wp-service-providers
