I'm in the process of submitting a claim for my son and have already attended a proof of ID for both myself and him, with a view to getting appointeeship while he's incapacitated (severemobility problems). They now saying that he will have to attend in person for the first interview, which would cause my son quite a bit of distress and pain. Is there any way around this?
You can send a message requesting an urgent Home Visit from a DWP Visiting Officer to set up the appointeeship. You can send this message to two different agents in the DWP as some Work Coaches don't know how to make a referral to the Visting Officer Team. So you make your request on the UC Journal and from the drop down list choose Payment. Then send the same message and this time from the drop down list choose Work Coach. Using the Payment option means the message will be routed to the Case Managers who are based at the UC Service Centre.
