PIP Mandatory Reconsideration - New Condition was created by Auntyp
I have ME/CFS and have various aches and pains, one area is my hip. I was denied PIP and wasn't able to get my MR sent in within the month. I was diagnosed with arthritis in my hip after the time limit to submit my MR. I'm working my way through the MR but want to add this new diagnosis, would I add it to Q18 and would I add all the information for the relevant PIP activities in this section like I would if I was applying for the first time? TIA

Hi Auntyp
Remember to qualify you must have met the conditions for 3 months and be likely to meet them for the next nine months. If you are terminally ill there is no qualifying period.
When applying for PIP, it is not so much the condition per se that the DWP is interested in, but how that condition/s impacts a claimant's daily life and mobility as set out in the PIP criteria. We are not assessors or medical professionals, so cannot give a view on what you will get and at what level. Two people can have identical conditions but be given different awards.

If you have a new diagnosis, it may be ignored as your MR is as you were then not as you are now.

Is there any way to notify DWP of the new condition? I did put that I had pain in my hip on my pip2 form, I just didn’t know it was arthritis, I’ve had the condition for several years and unfortunately will have it longer than 9 months. It’s affecting the ME/CFS symptoms and making my daily living activities and my mobility more difficult.

Hi Auntyp
You can notify DWP of a new condition, it's called a change of circumstances and DWP will send you a new set of forms to complete.
If you mentioned that you had pain in your hips then it is not a new condition but an old condition which has now been diagnosed.
