Hi.
I'm in the process of migration from ESA support group to UC,
this morning I have received an email asking me to attend a meeting at my local job centre to agree my claimant commitment with a work coach. Is this correct?
I also claim PIP standard rate care and mobility, I take it these people are aware of my mobility issues? I have amongst other conditions Fibromyalgia, and as you probably know if I'm on a bad day getting to the job centre at 9.30 AM would be near on impossible.
Any advice would be much appreciated.

Hi onestep,
It is unusual to get an actual email from the Jobcentre. It's usually a UC journal entry. Anyway reply to say that you are too unwell to physically get to the Jobcentre and to even try to would damage your health. Ask for a phone appointment to agree commitments.

Thank you for your help.
I also intend to tell the Jobcentre that I am too unwell to go to the Jobcentre and even doing so would damage my health ( as everytime I walk outdoors I risk falling let alone at home)
However I think I have read that at times when one says they cannot go to the Jobcentre for various health reasons
( I do not recall if it was to agree commitments when migrating to UC)
and we ask for a phone appointment instead,
the Jobcentre replies in that case they will do a home visit instead.
If they reply this to me I will reply I do not want a home visit, I am a private person, my home is my castle.
If we refuse to go to the Jobcentre for health reasons and we ask for a phone appointment instead, can the Jobcentre say that because we refuse the home visit we have to go to the Jobcentre and they refuse the phone appointment?

" relates to a hypothetical situation which I and many other members can only hope that the DWP would have the common sense not to allow. After all Jobcentre employees are Civil Servants and doing that would not be " civil " at all, would it?
