I received my PIP award in roughly 1999.After my appeal.Higher level for mobility and daily living .There was no end date.I moved to another city and when applying for housing benefit 7 years ago was told by council official I was best staying on my pip instead of changing over.
I don't think I've had any reviews .
I'm 76 .For various reasons e.g.lockdown
I have 'saved' quite a lot of money over that time.I have 2 x times the allowed rate of savings £32,000 .I don't do anything much to spend it, so only the usual basics overheads come out of my account.I don't go on holiday, I don't have a car etc
The money going in to my account is only my benefits .My rent has gone up this year so I'll have to contact the council.Ive lost my initial award notice and I'm terrified to ask for a copy in case they go into my bank account.I don't know if they wil take this as an opportunity to give me a review .
I'm so anxious and depressed. Can someone please help me?

Hi lindalol

I have moved your post so it sits by itself. We ask people not to ask questions on someone else's post, or it becomes difficult for us to keep up more than one thread at a time, which might lead us to give the wrong answer.

I'm sorry that you are so worried about your situation. Your question is outside the remit of this forum, and you need to speak to a specialist welfare advisor. I have attached a link to see if you can find one in your area advicelocal.uk/.

You say in your post that you have twice the allowed rate of savings, which seems to imply you receive some means-tested benefits (PIP doesn't count). If this is the case, you need to inform the DWP, or you could find yourself accused of fraud or having to pay back some money. If you don't receive any means-tested benefit, then your savings aren't an issue, and I'm sorry if I have scared you. Either way - you sound as if you need help - so please try and find that specialist welfare advisor.
