NB NOT SHOUTING
CURIOUS. I FOUND OUT THAT I HAD TO APPLY FOR PENSION CREDIT IN ORDER TO CONTINUE RECEIVING MY HOUSING BENEFIT ON MY OFFICIAL RETIREMENT IN MARCH, AND THAT PENSION CREDIT WOULD IN TIME BE MIGRATING TO UC, NOT THAT I HAD TO GO STRAIGHT TO APPLYING FOR UC. WAS GLAD ABOUT THAT, BECAUSE I'M DREADING THE WAITING PERIOD AND THE FACT THAT UC IS CALENDAR MONTHLY, WHEN I'VE SPEND YEARS ORGANISING ALL MY PAYMENTS GOING OUT IN TANDEM WITH 2 AND 4 WEEKLY BENEFIT PAYMENTS, TO MAKE BUDGETING MANAGEABLE.

Hi mspjmason,
The rules regarding Pension Credit and Housing Benefit are complex. So thanks for sharing your experience.

We received the dreaded Universal Credit Migration Notice on 17th September 2024. And we have to claim by the 18th December. So due to the everyone is on holiday in December and the fear of not being transferred in time we will be doing it in November.
At the moment my husband and myself are on the following:-
ESA supported
Extra money severely disabled
Extra money disability income guarantee
Both on PIP
Housing Benefit full amount awarded
Council Tax full amount awarded
I am expecting that when we move over we will have less money and massive problems if I have to do face to face for anything. I don't leave the house pretty much due to a complete meltdown and shutting down. So I am worried that my mental health will affect our transition.
I have already done the DLA awarded for life, to PIP and the headache that causes only got back high rate in both about 1.5 years ago thanks to support and information given here.
Just had my PIP getting in touch fill in smaller from. Which again I read and used the information provided here. I have already gone into what my husband calls "PIP panic" as again I am struggling and convinced I will lose it.
Especially as the last and present government just seem to want to attack the older generation and anyone who is ill or disabled. We are all lazy, commiting benefit fraud and not as bad as we say. And again this gets the public upset and it's a small number of claims that are not true.
I just dispair on what they will take away or penalize the elderly and disabled/ill people with next.

Hi Anntoinette,
When you are ready to claim you can call the Citizens Advice Help to CLaim line - 0800 144 8444 who will help you through the process.
In fact you can register with them before you are ready to migrate as I have done. They will take all the necessary details and issue you with a reference number to quote when you call back.
Daunting as the enforced migration is, having assistance may go some way to help alleviate the stress involved. Thats what I'm hoping anyway!
Best wishes,
Gaddy
