Thank you for your kind words and advice. It is very difficult to know how the longer term picture will look.
They have already been at home quite a lot, so I'm not sure if I need to give a change of address if as you say the post etc. is here.

Hello Sylvie,

As you've said you are an appointee, I believe all letters from the DWP should be addressed to you at your home address anyway because you are the one who needs to see them. (I hope I'm right about this - maybe one of the Mods can confirm.) Unfortunately, post sent to university halls or other accommodation can all too easily go astray and you really don't want this to happen with letters from the DWP. Nor do want your student to be distracted by worrying unnecessarily about anything other than their studies. They all need as much support as they can get, regardless of whether or not they have a disability! It's lovely that your family are all keen to help and I really hope it goes well for you all.

I know so well what you mean about the longer term - we all worry about it and I have no useful advice; all I've ever managed is to try to cope with day to day problems as they arise and hope for the best.

Do let us know how they are getting on.

Best wishes,

Wendy

Hi Wendy Woo,

You will need to phone the DWP and check if they have updated the appointee's details in the IT system that they use, CIS Searchlight.
In the first instance the DWP will send mail to the claimants address but it will be the appointee's role to read and action the letters as the claimant has been assessed to be lacking mental capacity to supervise a Benefits claim.

Hello again Sylvie,

I see BIS has replied to your other post and said exactly what I was trying to say - sorry if I've confused the issue.

Best wishes,

Wendy
