PIP and hospital admissions

PIP and hospital admissions was created by mariababy
Hello,
My neice had two hospitalised sections over the winter.
The first admission was for 8 weeks; she was then discharged for 2 or 3 weeks and was then admitted for a second time for 6 weeks.
She did not inform PIP. When she informs PIP to what extent will she be penalised? Will the two admissions be treated as 2 separate admissions in the sense that they were not continuous?
Thank you in advance.

Hi mariababy

Your niece may be hit with a penalty charge for not reporting when she went into hospital, and hit with an over payment.

The first day of going into hospital is not counted, nor is the day that you are discharged.

If you go into hospital for over 28 days then you should notify DWP.

We would advise your niece to seek advice from her local Welfare Rights Organisation; advicelocal.uk
