DWP has been sending a friend texts to keep him updated on his PIP application and then the most recent text was about ‘progressing your review as soon as they can’ on 25 April. He has now received a message from ATOS to say they “now have his PIP assessment and they will contact him if they need to make an appointment”. This seems to be different from previous occasions when the DWP first decided if an independent assessment was needed. I’m wondering if this is a change in process? And is it usual for ATOS to the appointment by text or letter? Tx
It isn't a change in process. The DWP still decides whether to forward it—once it has been forwarded, IAS decide what type of assessment they will do. This means some paper-based decisions are done by the DWP and some are done by the Assessment Services.
