Dear B&W,
With the news that they are tightening awards for PIP claims. Is it still possible to claim PIP without any recent evidence?

Nothing on this board constitutes legal advice - always consult a professional about specific problems

Hi Anxious Anonymous
Lots of people don't have recent evidence—either because of the pandemic, because services have been cancelled, because they have been discharged from services, or because they have chosen not to engage with services. All people can do is use the evidence they have and explain why there is nothing more up to date. PIP is a lottery, and sometimes the lack of recent evidence will be accepted, and sometimes it won't, just as some claimants put in reams of recent evidence which sometimes is accepted and sometimes rejected.

If you aren't engaging with mental health services or for example, the local mental health services are overstretched and not accepting you... how can you win your claim?
I know B&W did a post on this about the severe disability group. It does seem unfair because some local services are dealing only with psychosis and leaving severe depression and even bipolar patients off-rolled because they only do episodic care now.
