I sent all my renewal paperwork in last March and have only just been told I need an assessment, I was only told on Monday this week that it is on Wednesday next week.

I have lifelong conditions that will not get better or improve and will deteriorate. Since my previous assessment I have new conditions which my medical team have written in-depth letters.

I cannot cope with the assessments as it’s triggering for me with my PTSD and having to relive the traumas of the past 8 years.

My mum called them to say it needs to be paperbased as I cannot cope. The person she spoke to told her she would need to answer questions about my work. I don’t understand why this is? Can you advise me please?

I have started working but have had so many adjustments made through occupational health such as a disabled parking badge by the door, a specialist chair, computer at different heights, regular breaks, I get prompted to go for dinner, I am always with someone and fully supported at all time.I always have triggers for my PTSD. I am on complex medication for my mental health.

All the evidence was supplied. I’m having a major fibromyalgia flare up and my PTSD as kicked off.

Are you able to give me any advice please?

Thank you

Hi Bec_h1988

Your assessment is short notice, but it is within the time allowed.

If you have started working since your last review, they will want to ask about it to assess whether your condition has changed or improved. I know you have said that you have submitted lots of evidence, but it is the sort of situation they will still want to follow up on.

You said that your mother has asked for a paper-based review. Even if they agree to doing one they can still ask for further information. If they are willing to hear it from your mother, you are lucky because unless someone has an official appointee, they will often only take additional evidence from the claimant themselves.
