Hi, I wonder if other forum members and/or a moderator can help?

I currently receive contribution based ESA (in the Support Group), and on PIP at the higher rate for both mobility and care.

I recently applied for a job which I unexpectedly got offered. I "ummed and ahhed" about it but decided that I should accept (I want to work, think it will be good for me and believe I make a positive contribution in the role...) It's full time but substantively involves working from home which I can manage.

I'm wondering how I tell/frame this to ESA. Also, do I have have to tell PIP or is that advisable?

If my query has been answered elsewhere please link me to relevant page/pages of the forum or please can anyone offer me some help. I've been on DLA/PIP for a lot of years and this is a big decision, that although I'm optimistic about, is nevertheless causing me considerable anxiety.... Thanks in anticipation.

Congratulations on getting a job - we all wish you the best in this new stage of your life.

I understand your worries about working and how this will affect your benefits. Unfortunately, I will probably cause you more anxiety with what I say, so I apologise for that in advance.

Only you have knowledge of your medical condition/s and how they impact your daily care and your mobility and for what specific criteria you were awarded both the ESA (Support Group) and PIP. If your health has 'improved' then you need to inform the DWP of your change in circumstances. Obviously, your ESA will be affected if you're starting full-time work.

Some people work and still get PIP - but again, depending on what you were awarded it for - if you are now able to work - the DWP would expect to be informed of the change of circumstances, and it will trigger a review even though you will be working from home and not in a workplace. Unfortunately, the system doesn't allow you to try the work and then inform them. If your health has improved, you should inform the DWP now.
