I applied for both daily living needs and mobility needs in 2001. I was awarded the enhanced rate for care but nothing given for mobility. My mobility condition has got much worse and was thinking of applying again. I have been awarded the daily living until after August 2031
Can they reduce or take away my daily living needs since it’s been given until 2031 if I apply for mobility needs.
I am also unsure if I can just complete the mobility part of the of how my disability affects me. Or do I need to go through the both components all over again.
Kind Regards

Hi Souter
I assume you mean you were awarded PIP in 2021? Do you understand why you weren't awarded anything for mobility? You can put in for a change of circumstances. This will automatically trigger a review. You can say that you only want them to consider mobility, but they will send you out a review form, and you will have to complete both parts. They will look at your daily care again.
The result of the review could be any of the following:
1) Your change of circumstances is denied, and your daily living award remains unchanged until 2031
2) Your change of circumstances is accepted, and you are given a mobility award. You will be given a new award end date for both parts. This could be any length of time, and there is no guarantee that you will be given another ten-year award.
3) Your change of circumstances is accepted, and you are given a mobility award, but your daily care award is reduced.
Only go after the mobility if you know there is a good chance of you getting an award.

You asked why I was not awarded. They told me I was in employment and was able to walk around . They also said I was anytime attend college,
Since this time I had to give up work as I was on my feet 13 houta day in a care home. . The pain in my legs are so sore I cannot drive. I didn’t realise they could reduce my care component.

Hi Souter
I'm sorry this happened to you. I'm not saying they would reduce your care. I only wanted to lay out that there is always a possibility however small when you put in for a change of circumstances that an award can be lowered.
