PIP - our experience was created by Suebnm
In 2013 I had a VERY torrid time with my new PIP claim and after the paperwork had already been submitted I joined here. You talked me through a MR - although I had already got the enhanced mobility PIP I needed another 2 points in care which I eventually got with your help.

We made a claim for my husbands PIP on the 6/5/15. He had his assessment on the 10/06/15 and today we received the award of standard care. I think this is fair and will not be asking for an MR this time. Had I not read and used your guides before the fact this time it would have been a very different story. He has been awarded PIP for 4 years.

I'm mildly hopeful that we will left alone now as we claimed income support and not ESA as he couldn't have stood the hassle from DWP ESA claimants seem to get. We are in our early 50's and have no dependents.

Again we submitted no medical evidence whatsoever. I feel personally - and it's a very personal decision and not right for all - very strongly that in the case of PIP gathering medical evidence is not my job. In fact the assessor said if DWP need it they can jolly well get on the phone and request it. While I agreed with the assessor I remained on my guard after my experience in my assessment and, as last time, I covertly recorded the whole thing.

I just want to say thank you.

Congratulations on getting the award revised at the MR stage.

I hope you'll forgive me, but I don't agree with you comment about the claimant collecting evidence, our experience with PIP and other benefits is that the Assessment Providers rarely seek medical evidence themselves, leaving the claimant exposed if that have not done so themselves.
