Hi, just wanted to say thank you for your recent advice and support, I have now been awarded PIP Mobilty & Daily Living Enhanced for both components having submitted a Mandatory Reconsideration, initially I was awarded Standard Mobility only.
My question is do I qualify for any of the Disability Premiums, I'm on Contribution ESA in WRAG (NI payments only) and live with my partner who works full time. Thank you.

Hi S,

Congratulation on being awarded Enhanced Rate for "both" at MR !! :cheer:

Thanks for your kind words. :)

As "All" : ESA Premiums can only be paid if you can pass the means test for entitlement to payment of Income Related (IR) ESA, I am afraid that as your partner works full time, the answer is no !

You can not receive payment of IR ESA if your partner works more than 24 Hours/Week :

24 hour work rule for ESA(IR)

See also : Asset rule for ESA(IR)

So no entitlement to payments of IR ESA = no payment of IR ESA Premiums ! :(

As you may already know, being in receipt of an Enhanced Mobility PIP Award does entitle you to a Blue Badge, free Road Tax and the opportunity to lease a Motability Car :

See : Here.

Being in receipt of Enhanced Rate PIP for both, may be a good indication (Depending on the limitations/disabilities that gave you the awards) that you may be able to gain entry to The ESA Support Group (SG) as result of reporting a Change of Circumstances with respect to a deterioration/change in your medical conditions and resulting limitations since the time of the WRAG Award.

You would need to write to ESA, and request a review/supersession of your current WRAG award to gain entry to The SG.

If successful, payment of your Contribution Based (CB) ESA would be reinstated from the date that you request the review, and would remain in payment for as long as you stay in The SG.

It would probably involve a fresh ESA50, and the possibility of a face to face.

If you can gain copy of the reasons why you have received the PIP Enhanced Awards, and they are supportive of you being placed into The SG, you could use them as evidence.

Have a look at our : ESA Claims Guides

Hi thank you so much for the further information. I requested a Supersession from ESA WRAG to SG last July and have an assessment this Friday. I will be presenting them a copy of my PIP Decision and hopefully this will act as further supportive evidence in addition to a letter from my GP stating that I qualify under the mobility & sequential tasks descriptors. Fingers crossed and I will keep you posted

Hi following my PIP award of Enhanced for both I used this as evidence for my ESA Supersesssion from WRAG to SG. Today I had a phone all from DWP to say I have been placed in SG without medical. I am over the moon as I have been battling for this for nearly 12 months and ESA overall for over 3 years. They first tried to put me on JSA from IB, I appealed and got WRAG but lost my money after 12 months as CB and partner works over the threshold. So have had no money for 18 months. Hopefully it will be back paid to last July when I applied for the Supersession, fingers crossed.

So many thanks to this group for all your support because in the last 12 months I have managed to get PIP Enhanced for both elements and now Support Group but most all of can have a much needed rest from all the stress for a while
