From wrag into support group. (25 week wait)- This was the best Christmas present ever for my daughter, who has Dependant Personality Disorder. Unfortunately, I didn’t find B&W until after she first claimed ESA, so we probably didn’t fill in her ESA50 as detailed as is obviously necessary, although with assessments from her therapist detailing her condition, including “she has a clinical diagnose of agoraphobia” we thought we were thorough enough.
Her ATOS medical seemed to go very smoothly I spoke mostly on her behalf (asking her if the answer was correct) as, due to her DPD she can’t speak to people until they gain her confidence. Using B&W’s guides I knew what to expect, and was very confident that she would gain more than enough points to get ESA, and should qualify for the support group, but when the ‘brown envelope’ arrived WRAG !!
I requested a copy of her medical assessment and all her problems were VERY clearly stated, BUT, at the end of the report the prognosis was: “I advise that a return to work could be considered within 12 months” What! She can’t leave the house alone, talk to people, socialise at all, answer the door, the phone, and has never worked, all this was on her assessment.
It’s difficult to know in hindsight, but if I hadn’t found B&W I/she may have accepted the WRAG decision, and she probably would have stopped claiming, as she COULD NOT have gone, it would have been too stressful for her
We used the ‘Employment and Support Allowance Appeals’ guide (We also went to the C.A.B. for advice but more as a sounding board armed with all I’d learnt on here!) So, with the CAB’s backing we lodged an oral appeal…….
So, thank you for your wonderful guides B&W, with which I have learned so much.
All you guys out there please keep fighting – you’re on this site already, so follow the guides well. I’m horrified when I read some of your stories.
Now just expecting the 12 month ESA50, probably in March ………...
