It seems members are confusing three discrete aspects of ESA.
1. You are either receiving ESA(CB), ESA(IR), or ESA(C) with an ESA(IR) top-up, the group you are in does not effect this.
2. You are either in the WRAG or the Support Group, the type of ESA you receive does not effect this.
3. If you are in the WRAG and receiving ESA(CB) then your payments are limited to 365 days, however, you still remain in the WRAG even after this. Whereas if you are in the Support Group you payments are not limited.
a. So you can be in the Support Group and be receiving ESA(CB) or ESA(IR) or both.
b. If you are on ESA(CB) then your savings are not taken into account, whereas if you are receiving ESA(IR) they are. this is the same whether you are in the WRAG or the Support Group.
c. If your ESA(CB) is time limited, providing you are also eligible for ESA(IR), then your payments will continue.
d. If your ESA(CB) is time limited and you subsequently qualify for the Support Group, then your payments will be re-instated.

OKI thought if a person was put in the Support group it didn't matter what there income or savings were. Am I right in thinking that if you are placed in WRAG(CB) then a person has 365days before payment stops, and if you are in WRAG(IR) then payment carries on. I,m now confused

Georgei,
Some people have not made sufficient NI contributions to qualify for contributary ESA. For these people they would have to see whether they qualified for income realted ESA, no matter whether they would be in the WRAG or the Support Group.
