with thanks to B&W SITE was created by pamela
Thank you for providing me with the guides and advise with my ESA.
I have recieved my decision letter today that I am in the contributary ESA support group for two years.I completed my ESA50 with the help from this site.I did not have to go for an assessment.

However I have spent all afternoon trying to see if my lump sum and savings stop me from getting the benefit.
Please can you help.
I'm easily confused.
Thank you.

First of all, congratulations on the award.

If you are receiving Income Related ESA, then it is possible that there will be an effect.

By lump sum, do you mean the back payment of money owed to you by the DWP? If so, then I believe that this should be disregarded for a period, I think 52 weeks but I will have to check.

Even if it is not disregarded, then there will be no deduction if your savings are less than £6000, above this there is a £1/w deduction for each extra £250 up to a maximum of £16,000 of savings, so your payments may be reduced, but not stopped.

If you have any concerns then the bestthing is for you to get face to face advice.

yes the DWP did pay me payment but that's because the lump sum was because i worked for them.
I AM ONLY RECIEVING CONTRIBUTARY BASED ESA support group and not income related ESA to which i know i am not entitled just if it's contributary base wondered if my ESA would be affected.
I have searched but don't understand as it keeps talking about the WRAG group and not the support group.

The group is not relevant :)

As you are receiving ESA(CB), it will not be affected by any savings.

I thought if a person was put in the Support group it didn't matter what there income or savings were. Am I right in thinking that if you are placed in WRAG(CB) then a person has 365days before payment stops, and if you are in WRAG(IR) then payment carries on. I,m now confused
