ESA News was created by kefkat
About 8 months ago my Husband had his migration pack. He was migrated from incapacity benefit to ESA without a medical and put in WRAG.

After reading through various other people's experiences, talking it through and doing some detective work on the various groups and the guidelines for the support group descriptors, we decide to ask for a reconsideration/appeal.

It has taken 4 months to get a response from ESA has they are unsurprisingly snowed under, however they have have reviewed my Husband claim and have put him into the support group without an appeal.

This was a major relief as you can imagine. Just wanted to give you all our news and to say it is worth doing the research and appealing.

We ensured in our reconsideration/appeal that we highlighted the specific no and descriptor and what it said for the support group to align with our appeal and evidence so they had it clearly in front of them.

I hope this helps others to take that leap of faith and ask for a reconsideration/appeal.

Keeping it simple, using the guidelines on here has always worked for us.

2 years ago we asked for my Husband DLA to be reassessed. At reconsideration using the guides here his supersession reconsideration was successful without having to go to appeal.

We have used these guides forum advice, ideas etc. etc to build our knowledge and without this site I doubt we would have what we have today, not just in these 2 examples I have given but many others. This website is invaluable

Don't give up and go for what is right is what i say to you all

I also wanted to add does anyone know why my Husband hasn't been given a period of time before he receives the forms again to fill in?

The letter we have had just states that he has been moved from WRAG to the support group. Everyone else seems to say that they are given a review date which we haven't been

Claimants are not automatically told when to expect reassessment. An idea of this is given on the medical assessment form (ESA85/85a) and/or the Statement of Reasons whic are available on request from DWP
