Thank you for tips. I have recently been migrated from incapacity benefit and put in the support group without a medical and did much as you did. I also included some medical reports which were difficult to obtain. I have requested the ESA85A so that I may now what descriptors were applied and when I am likely to be re-assessed. Did you have medical evidence and ,if so, were you able to use the same letters/reports again when you were re-assessed, assuming your medical condition had not changed? Similarly, was the information you gave in your ESA50 unchanged from your original ESA50 when you were originally migrated to the support group? I realise that my question probably appears premature as I am not being re-assessed but it is such a help to know of member's successful experiences of what lies ahead.

Sorry for the delay in reply.

When I was reassessed I copied about 80 per cent of what I had had written on my initial ESA50 to the new one virtually word for word. The other 20 per cent was up to date stuff about my condition and how it is impacting my daily life.

I did not send in any medical evidence other than a letter from my GP when I was migrated.By the time I was reassessed I had changed my GP and again only sent in a support leter - albeit a far superior one than that submitted with my first ESA50.

I have often thought that success is to do with how well you complete the form - including giving great detail on your every day life - coupled with whether you get a decent sort of person reading the stuff at the other end!

Hi bagpussy,

You can enter the Support Group at a later stage if your condition meets the criteria. this can happen at a routine reassessment or you can contact DWP and ask for a 'supersession' of your claim. This would start the reassessment process and the onus would be on you nto prove that your condition has worstened and that you now meet the Support Group criteria
