Result! was created by fan54
I've been getting IB for about 4 years due to RA . Got ill health retirement as a result of this.Got the dreaded brown envelope back in Aug.
Despite your excellent guides , I found it so difficult to fill in the form as alot of my problems are due to pain ,fatigue and I tried to be honest about what I can do . Impossible to convey variability even though I keep a symptoms diary. What I did put in though was how my treatment has been changed over the last few years and that I am not well c ontrolled. Also number of appointments I have had in the past 2 years with Rhematology . I dd not think I would score enough even to qualify ,even though I am not able to work - the form just doesn't ask the right questions.
Never had a medical for IB so very stressed when I got appointment in October . My husband came with me and took notes . The nurse said I had given plenty of detail, looked at my appointment card and checked medication I was on .
It all seemed quite low- key .
When we came out ,I felt a bit more confident . Felt I might now have made a case for enoughn points ESA(WRAG).
Got a 'courtesy call' from DWP yesterday,
to say I had got ESA but in the support group! I have to say I'm stunned! All I can think is that because I have proved that I have a long term condition that is not controlled at present that I have gotin The sup[port group. I'll wait to hear . Thanks as always to this site and forum for all the excellent advice and support. I have to say back in August I was so stressed by the whole thing that I was saying then , I'm not sure that I could go through an appeal if I don't get it.

Nothing on this board constitutes legal advice - always consult a professional about specific problems

That's great news! I hope that you can now relax and concentrate on dealing with your condition.

Hi Fan54
I'm pleased you got the result you were hoping for. Assistance with forms may be available from an Advice Agency or by using the B&W guides.
Please also read this FAQ -
