Hi all well the big day arrived today and off I went with trepidation for my esa "medical".Wife drove me 26 miles to the place and we arrived 15 mins before the allotted time of 11.30.After about 5 mins the receptionist called me up to the desk and said,"you dont have a medical to attend"My first thought was Ive got the date wrong but she went on to say "you have been placed in the support group because it was decided you did not need to undergo a medical",then she asked me did i not receive a letter informing me of that?I was going to say to her "would I really have travelled a round trip of 52 miles to a medical I didnt have to attend"?However I realised it wasnt her fault and to be honest I was just pleased to be put in the support group. When I returned home I called esa offices and told them what had happened and they replied "oh yes a letter was sent out to you yesterday did you not receive it?"Again I held my temper and refrained from asking him "would i have went that distance etc",so I made the point this time of getting his full name in case I need to ring again but he told me I will have my esa increased to support group level and it should happen next week and my arrears SHOULD be paid within 3 weeks.I only hope it is and this is all sorted out finally,my one consolation is getting into the support group is one small worry less.
Hi James
So pleased to hear that your benefit has been sorted out. Sorry though that you were put to all that inconvenience. It does seem to happening a lot to claimants these days. You could of course make a complaint about it if you wanted to.
Thank you for letting us know.
Kind regards
Michael
