support group migrated from IB to ESA was created by suzanne
I have just been migrated from IB to ESA - in Support group without a medical - a massive relief. The info on this site helped me to do the questionnaire so they could make an accurate decision. Whilst we knew I should be in the Support group I had ceased being naive enough to believe they would get in touch with my medical team to find out about how my illness and disability affects me.
Three questions (well just over!)
The decision maker never rang me to explain the decision so I am in the dark about what made them come to their decision. Should I ask them to tell me how they reached it? Is there a form for this?
Is it true that if being migrated from IB to ESA and having no deductions for pension as a result of higher rate DLA care that the same will apply for ESA. I understand that for new claimants straight to ESA lose 50 for every £1 over £85. But isnt it different for those being migrated?
It said on the notification that the amounts apply from later in Aug when I am migrated to November 2011. Should alarm bells be ringing that they will start the whole process again in a few months?
So I am smiling but uncertain!

You can request the medical reports that were used to make the Decision that you qualified for ESA, you can phone or write to you local DWP office, contact information will be on the letters they have sent you.
If you pension was diregarded under IB then under the ESA Transitional Regulations it should continue to be so under ESA, providing you remain eligible for Contribution Based ESA or until April 2020.
The date in late August is your Effective Transfer date. We haven't figured out what the second date on your letter is, but it is not your next re-assessment date, this may be included on your medical report, under the heading "expected return to work date".
Hope this explains everything.

Happy to be corrected but I think the EDP is only payable for ESA(IR), someone transferred from from IB will be on ESA(CB).
