time limit of esa to 1 year was created by citymike
Is there anything we can do to stop this going ahead or is it a forgone conclusion.

I would say that it is not a foregone conclusion. It is though quite likely.
The claimant community is non existent so a few posters here won't change the governments mind.
Have a look for the impact assessment. Within a few years the Governments own prediction is that 750.000 claimants will lose benefit as a result
If that isn't a scandal then what is ?
The impact assessment readily brags about how the notional capitals rules will be employed against those perceived as spending their savings and yet it is clear they can do nothing about the working partner that reduces their hours so their ESA partner can continue to claim.
Scandalous

I have meeting with my MP on friday evening,i will let you all know how things go.
Perhaps the more people make their views known to their MP the better the chance of getting this stupid idea kicked into touch.

Given the state of things abroad in Greece, Italy, Portugal etc., if it's any comfort I suspect the government will have far more immediate concerns on its plate in abundance and as a consequence a lot of these proposals will get shelved. Just keep surviving from day to day.

I am on the verge of a nervous breakdown because of failing my medical. I have never felt so low, and went through some terrible ordeals last year. This was the final straw. My Mum and Doctor saw what state I was in and my Mum on the advise of my Doctor is dealing with Jobcentreplus on my behalf. She is amazed at what I have gone through - getting a letter in error that could have pushed me over the edge. Then today she spoke with a very rude woman from the jobcentre. She has now enlightened our MP, who happens to be oversee Health, NHS etc and he has helped in the past over other issues. We are confident that we will receive some help from him, as he has been informed of what a shambles the system is in!!!!
