I have been receiving IS+IB for some years now with anxiety/panic related problems. Following 5 months of not being able to walk I have now been diagnosed with osteoarthritis in one ankle following an x-ray (delay was caused by confusion with long term suffering from gout.
I expect I will be transferred to ESA around September/October. Would I be better off submitting a claim for DLA now, or waiting until the transfer assessment occurs?
The last thing I want to do is get into a situation of bureaucratic confusion.
I suspect this is an impossible one for anyone else to answer - you're going to have to choose yourself, in the end.
But if you think you meet the criteria for an award of DLA, then probably the simplest solution is to make an application.
Trying to figure out all the possible permutations of what happens if you do/don't get an award of DLA and how this might affect your migration which may/may not happen on time is probably too mind boggling to attempt.
Good luck,
Steve
