Hello

I had the same experience. I got the first letter saying they would call, but I never answer the phone either. Then I received the ESA application after about two weeks. They won't stop your benefit because you can't answer the phone.

Good luck filling in the form - I've just sent mine off, and am anxiously waiting to hear about a medical.

Helchis,

Don't worry too much about the phone call, it has only been implemented after the Harrinton Review, and is simply to put on a better "Customer" friendly aspect.

The caller apparently only reads from a script about the WCA process, and tells you to expect your ESA50 through the post.

When you receive your ESA50 tell them then, that you do not or cannot answer the phone to unknown callers etc, do this as a reasonable adjustments request under the Equalities Act.

You don't have to give them your number, if they haven't already got it.

They like to ring you to arrange the face to face if you have to have one, ringing you is for their convenience not yours.

If you don't wish to talk to them on the phone, the whole process can be done in writing.

Hope this helps.

Hello again

I don't know how many times they called because I haven't got caller display and they don't leave messages.

On my ESA 50, I have asked them not to ring me re a medical, but to write instead. I don't know if it will make any difference, but I hope so.

All the best,
