Can you confirm on which news programme you saw this information about lower rate mobility/care components claimants "being targeted?"

there has been talk on news over the last few days I heard some MP on bbc radio 4 news speak of the fact its the lower rate care they are getting rid of and he spoke of how the "meal test" is out of date blah blah people have frozen meals and micro waves :)

one of the other disability site has some blurb :) saying the same thing in different words and of course in the draft regulations for pip they now talk of heating ie microwave not lifting pots and pans as per the old way

“cook” means heat food at or above waist height;

But they fail to mention that many need a special diet and thus in many of those circumstances a microwave is not possible furthermore you cannot be expected to live on microwave meals 7 days a week

Is this correct? because I saw this info on the news and they did state it was only people on lower rate being targeted?

thanks

I think this is where the confusion is arising with the OP's question, as Dave said I have read that if they get legislation passed in changing DLA to PIP, lower rate care component will be defunct, they also intend to make the new PIP assessment much like the present ESA WCA, ie. much more difficult to qualify.

If these changes are pushed through I can foresee a time in the not too distant future, where there is just the one assessment for ESA and PIP, I also think the WRAG will cease to exist and there will just be either support group, or fit to work JSA.

Of course the paragraph above is purely my own predictions and should not be taken as fact.

There was talk of Judicial review of PIP on the news on Sat. morning and how the Government have failed to take into account the impact the changes will have on the sick and disabled.The person interviewed was adamant that there is a good case.

I dont know if this post will be allowed.

But it could be confusion about the new dla rules pertaining to sight loss.

IE. the DWP will be testing everybody on the lower rate (Mobility) who use sight impairment as a problem.
