I'm not a moderator on this site I was sorry to read of your circumstances. After quick research I found Direct Gov Local Housing (LHA) website www.direct.gov.uk where you can check your allowance by inputting some details and your local authority, when I did this it gave me the rate for a single room. Of course I dont know your circumstances. Secondly contact Shelter who assist not only with homelesness but also housing issues www.shelter.org.uk. Citizens Advice Bureau or other Advice Agency may also be of help to you.
Hope this helps.

Hi Mike
I'm afraid we don't cover HB/LHA. You need to get face-to-face advice.
I do sympathize with you however. The latest legislation regarding housing benefit, reductions in rent and reduction to shared accommodation rate is extremely harsh. Especially if you already live in a one bedroom flat.
Good luck
Derek
