How long is the usual wait after ESA sent? was created by Porridge
I've just read the Being transferred from incapacity benefit to employment and support allowance which has just been published by B&W, hoping that it would indicate how long waiting times are. ATOS received my ESA and medical report on 8 June (PCA exempt IB to ESA transfer). I haven't heard anything further from them. I am really extremely ill now and I would just like to know how much longer I am likely to have to wait before I know whether I will be dragged-in for an interrogation or not. Thanks.

Please see my reply in this thread HERE.
The situation regarding waiting times cannot be established by B & W, and that is the reason why the forum is unable to comment on precise or even approximate waiting times, which applies to all aspects of the WCA.
As you will see, current IB claimants whose review date is now overdue haven't as yet been contacted about their transfer to ESA, so the official line on waiting times is unknown.

I dont think that was what Kate was asking? I think she is asking the length of time it takes, once ATOS have received your completed ESA50, to be told whether you need a medical or not

A week or two to arrange the appointment and a further week before it is held, although there will be regional variations.I dont think that was what Kate was asking? With respect, the OP was enquiring about waiting times and that is why I referred to "all aspects of the WCA" in the second paragraph of my previous post, which includes the time spent between returning the ESA50 and whether a medical assessment may be necessary, prior to a final decision on the claim.
The question that has been asked means that the response involves second-guessing Atos internal procedures, which is not at all possible as a different course of action may be required in any given individual circumstances. For example, following the receipt of the ESA50, Atos may find it necessary to issue an ESA113 to a claimant's GP before deciding whether a medical assessment is necessary? This may mean that the assessment process is extended pending the return of this form? Furthermore, it will very much depend on the workload of Atos and the ESA decision maker, which as Gordon says may be subject to regional variations.

Thank you CrazyDiamond and Gordon. Tomorrow will be 14 days after they received my ESA50 (I know this because I sent it by Special Delivery and printed out the signature from the Royal Mail website) and the new GP report that the GP had written to support my statement. I will I will reply again to this thread when I receive any sort of response.
