Help!! Travel to hospital expenses was created by millymoo
I am having problems in claiming travel to hospital as and when i have appointments as the office at hospital say that my award says income/contribution based. I am being told it should just state income. As i am having to travel sometimes a 60 mile round trip it is important financially to get my expenses back straight away. So i contacted DWP and asked for verification that i was entitled to travel, they sent me a letter out stating i was entitled but at the top of the letter it stated that this letter was only valid for one month. I am now back to square 1!!! Is anyone else having the same problems?

My mum is due to go into hospital for major heart surgery very soon and i was wondering if i would be entitled to any help with travel for visiting. I would be grateful for any advice on this or just to be pointed in the right direction!!

Mm :) xx

Are you receiving Income Related ESA? Is this at the full rate or Assessment?

Hi Gordon

I am receiving income related ESA and i was placed in the support group in sept 2009. On the award letter it says income/contribution rate which is what seems to be causing the problem.

I can see why you are frustrated, unfortunately, the rates for ESA(CB) and ESA(IR) are the same which where I think the heading is coming from.

I think you are stuck with requesting a letter every month, I don't think the DWP has a lot of patience, so if you are lucky they will quickly get bored doing this and offer a letter with a longer duration.
