Hi
I know it is hard for anyone to say for sure what will be but how I'm reading it is if you're lucky enough to get into the ESA support group then you won't be affected by the one year rule and you won't then be in the income related group whilst you remain in the support group and therefore you will not be means-tested on income? And if any pension is disregared now under IB it will remain so in the support group?
I know there's been a lot in the news about the ESA but I didn't realise the implications of this one year rule and income related and contibution based ESA until yesterday and I'm horrified and terrified for what the future will bring.
As Government voted for the Welfare Reform Bill does this mean that all the changes to ESA is passed or does it have to get through the House of Lords? Is there anything more people can do to. I have already written to my Lib Dem MP about ESA but got a response that said that the performance of those that carry out the WCA varies regionally across the country. So it seems that the way you are assessed is no more than a postcode lottory.

Hi Britnell
The Bill has now passed to the House of Lords and will be debated there.
It could potentially be challenged and amended and get sent back to the House of Commons, but I fear it will have an easy passage through Parliament.
