ESA Migration for PCA Exempt

Hi All

On Saturday I received the dreaded brown envelope informing me they are starting the process of my migration from IS to ESA.

I am on the top rates of DLA, both care and mobility, and haven't been bothered by the DWP in this respect since 2000.

Can anyone out there tell me if they have also received the migration letter and are on the top rates of DLA? I am trying to figure out of this is a mistake or not. I was told a few months ago by the DWP that I could not be reviewed before Dec 2013 and when I rang them this morning there was absolutely no mention of the migration letter on my file.

I'm afraid that it is DWP policy to assess PCA exempt claimants between March 2011 and 2012.

It is probably the DWPs policy to assess all previously PCA exempt claimants first, because in terms of benefit payments they are costing the government the most money.

If the government initiate the WCA against these claimants, and if they fail the assessment, the claims to the higher rates of DLA can be revisited on the strength of an ESA medical assessment report and can be reduced or taken away altogether, which ultimately means that the claimant will be compelled to appeal two adverse decisions, if they wish to retain their full benefit entitlement.

I have been on ib for 5 years, I had heart attack suffer with angina, I have had seven operations on left due knee, 2 in last 18 months. I now am waiting for an operation for knee replacement.

I suffer badly with asthma after heart probs.

I was diagnosed with bipolar 4 years after been in pysc hospital for 3 months.

I take over 20 dif meds for heart, knee, asthma, bipolar with bad side effects

I am stressed to so badly it is making me ill.

I have just joined this site and some of the comments terrify me.

I looked at the questions on the form on this site, it seems impossible to try and list my problems issues in the form.

I am also feeling ill as a result of the impending ESA assessment and perhaps the loss of everything as a result.

All we can do is try to gather as much evidence to support our claims as possible and hope for the best.

Just a few thoughts aimed not just at those of you asking questions on this thread, but to those reading it.

When you're PCA exempt, it all comes as a big shock to be assessed because you probably never went through a medical with Atos or their predecessors. However, although the whole process is very stressful, and although there have been people on IB found fit for work who aren't, that doesn't happen to everyone, so I think that the key thing is to make sure you fill in any forms you are sent very thoroughly and prepare yourself for the assessment with our materials.

If this is making you panic, do get support for that. If you already have support such as a CPN, it may be worth meeting them more often, and if you don't, it's worth seeing what support you can get.
