ATOS. ESA50 Form.

What happened to me should make people ask questions.
Filled in ESA50, sent it in before date on form 29 April 2011, got proof of posting stamp from post office. I received appointment from ATOS 8 May 2011 to go for medical.
Few days later, 12 May 2011 received letter from ATOS to say my appointment had been canceled. I rang them on the 16 May to ask why my appointment had been canceled, told me that they had just received my form on the 11 May 2011 !!!
I ask why have you sent me a letter on the 8 May 2011 say " The DWP had asked you to arrange a medical assessment" when you state you did not receive my completed ESA50 until the 11 May 2011?
They just waffled. This to me shows that they do not even look at the packs before sending out the appointments for medical assessment, and it must be bloody illegal.

WmWallace.

The appointment process is automated. A computer will generate an appointment letter on the assumption that the ESA50 will be returned on a certain timescale, if it's not returned by then, then a new letter is automatically generated cancelling it.
Whether the ESA50 and anything attached to it is read by ATOS is different question

Don't understand what you mean, they said they had been asked by DWP to arrange a WCA for me. This is even although they have not read or received the ESA50 and all the supporting evidence attached.
If they the DWP/ATOS had not read the contents of the ESA50 why do the think I need a medical. I may have put in it I had terminal cancer, thank god I have not.

Hi,
It is because the system is automated on the expectation that a WCA will be required.
One hopes (although by no means certain) if one has the verified condition you say, they would manually cancel the WCA medical.

Yes, if one had the condition I gave as an example, should they not have picked that up on reading the ESA50? At what point would they manually cancel the WCA?

Using your example.
The ESA50 is checked for certain conditions, if one is found, they then check for supporting evidence, if this is not included with the ESA50 they will contact the claimants doctor, when they have the necessary evidence evidence the WCA will be cancelled.
If you want a better understanding of the ESA process, it is explained in the Understanding ESA guide in the members area.
