It won't do any harm to get in touch with your GP about this. Quite apart from anything else, you may have care and/or mobility needs that your GP does not know about.

I'd say don't worry about the DWP asking for a GP report.

Hi Ann,

There is a Health Professionals sheet at the back of the claiming DLA guides which is specifically designed to help you make sure your GP has the information they need when they complete a factual report form about you for the DWP. It would be worth completing this and also contacting your GP to ask that they do not send off the form before seeing you.

Good luck,

Steve

Hi
I had the same sort of letter regarding my DLA claim 4years ago. They send your GP a form to complete regarding your condition and what effect it has on you.I got a copy of this form through a freedom of info. request and saw that my GP was paid around £30 for filling it in.Nothing much to worry about as long as your GP is aware of your needs.I was awarded DLA HRM and LRC indef.Good luck with your claim.

Hi,

I also had the same thing several weeks back saying they would ask my GP for a report. Two weeks later, having received his report, they wrote to me again to say that they still could not decide so wanted a report from a Physio.

A couple of weeks later I had the letter of refusal saying they had partially used the report from the Physio to help them but they did not mention having used the report from my GP.

My GP told me he had fully supported my claim so I suppose they simply decided to ignore what he said. I had made my GP aware of my personal situation beforehand and it didnt help in my case but I fully support the idea that you should clue yours up in advance.

Good luck.

Bill
