hi, i was successful with my dla claim at last. i have been awarded higher rate mobility BUT we are involved in an IVA, due to my health condition stopping me working, so had a big drop in income. However i cannot seem to get a clear answer about my payments to my iva, the company say they will review it next year at my annual review. Obviously the money is nice but we don't know whether to go down the route of motability to get a car that i can drive and put my scooter in. does anyone know out there who might be able to explain things to me i get muddled very easily

If you get a car and the IVA is changed in such a way your payments go up lots then you could end up with a car and no way of runing it, get advice from somewhere like CAB

I was always under the impression that if you were not working, you could not have an IVA.
I know with bankruptcy they they did not touch our benefits, DLA or car.
Hope it is the same for you.

The law in this area changed a lot since the start of the credit crunch, there is even a new type of iva aimed at someone with very little income who has a good chance of being on benefits
Debt Relief Orders 2009 ish
It is aimed at debtors who owe up to £15,000 of unsecured debt, who do not own property or have assets of little value and who have a disposable income after all essential costs of £50 or less.
